Dorothy has been a resident in the Kelmscott area, where she has long established links to the community,  for more than forty years.   She is a mother of two sons, both married business men, and a grandmother to much loved grandchildren. 

Appointment as a civil celebrant in 1978 opened a new career for Dorothy, and she was soon involved in local weddings.  This led to her being invited to conduct funeral ceremonies for the families for whom she had performed marriage ceremonies, and then naming ceremonies for children of couples she had married.

Dorothy enjoys her hobbies researching family history, travelling and keeping her wider family in touch from all over the world with a monthly newsletter.  Born in WA to a large family, Dorothy has established an enormous family tree going back some 400 years!

Frequent trips to Canberra to meet with the Attorney General and his Dept to represent the members of Marriage Celebrants Australia (Inc) are undertaken, and Dorothy assists in the production of a bi monthly newsletter sent to all members.

She has seen the name “civil celebrant” change to authorised or registered commonwealth celebrant, and had embraced the knowledge of public acceptance of the role she has been fortunate to perform for so long
